BEN Alexander

Principal & Partner (Retired)

Benjamin Alexander, Jr. (Ben) is the founder and a Senior Partner with the firm. For more than 30 years he has provided training, consulting and research for the company. ACT’s award winning instructional products reflect his subject matter ability in the areas of cross-cultural communication, generational differences, gender and gender identity, bullying and harassment, civil rights compliance, and conflict resolution.

Ben has worked as an executive coach and ADR (alternative dispute resolution) mediator and third-party neutral. He has trained EEO counselors and Title VII and Title VI Investigators and Civil Rights Compliance Officers across the country. He led the investigation team for the class action lawsuit that resulted in the one of the largest settlements ($508 million) for sex discrimination in employment.

Ben Alexander founded Alexander Consulting & Training, Inc. after 20 years of Federal and military service and a year as Training Director for McClure Lundberg Associates. He secured ACT’s position as a respected training firm in the areas of fair employment practice and civil rights compliance. He leveraged this expertise into a suite of training videos and instructional guides used by thousands of organizations across the country. Through the years, Ben significantly expanded ACT’s role in helping organizations meet the challenges of change. Retired in 2021, Ben maintains an active interest in the company and believes “we should work ourselves out of a job— leaving organizations better off than we found them, and better able to move forward without us.”

His experience includes serving as an adjunct professor in the American University School of International Service’s Inter-Cultural Management Institute, Leadership Coach at the Gestalt International Service Center, and Chief of Employment for the Headquarters and Middle Eastern Regions for the Federal Aviation Administration.
He holds an M.S. from the American University and a B.S. in Psychology from Johnson C. Smith University. He completed the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland’s post-graduate program on organizational dynamics and doctoral studies at the Fielding Institute.

He spends parts of every year in other countries to strengthen his cultural sensitivity and maintain a global perspective
